3Y0K 80M CW

3Y0K Bouvet Website3Y0K 80M CW. Boy oh boy oh boy. QRM can make you mad. Intentional or not. Just after 3Y0K’s sunrise this evening, they came out of the mud on 80 CW nicely. Quite a bit of QSB, but workable – that is until they weren’t.

I’m not sure if K3PA just got excited or confused, but for about 5 minutes straight every time 3Y0K was in the clear, K3PA was calling on his transmit frequency. And of course every time he did that the frustrated Hams trying to work 3Y0K let him know he was on the wrong VFO, but of course K3PA couldn’t hear them and kept going, and going, and going. “Lid, ass, UP, UP” – non-stop chaos. And of course I thought he came back to me through it all, but 3Y0K was getting wiped out. I won’t publish the long recording where K3PA kept calling and the frequency police kept trying to steer him straight – that recording is X Rated. Here’s the short version finally getting through the chaos:

Anyway, all is well and ends well as I got through. The odd part was for 5 minutes the QRM went on and on and on, but then immediately after my Q there were several minutes where not a single jammer was heard. Go figure.

See you in the Human Mode pileups!

Not last night, but the other day….I too heard them well on 80 cw…and was trying to work them. I thought I got through one time. Wasn’t sure because of all the DQRM….so called them again. When the log was published, I was in there twice….got through both times. I knew I got thru the 2nd time, but the first time….just couldn’t hear the confirmation through all the mess. And they were so strong, I knew it was a good opportunity and didn’t want to miss out. Thus the 2nd call. Oh well, but I am in the long…both times.

Last night….at their sunrise….i actually heard them pretty good on 160….shockingly. But I’m 99% sure I did NOT get thru. Too much DQRM and the pileup was pretty big. But it gives me hope to maybe actually get them on 160? So I’ll keep trying at their sunrise….the nights they get on 160.

Oh, the same DQRM crap was going on (of course….it’s pretty much constant sadly) yesterday on 12 SSB. So yea, I worked them multiple times on12 SSB. Better to be in the log multiple times….than not at all. In a perfect world, the assholes would quit the DQRM and you’d work them once and only once (on a band/mode). But we don’t live in that perfect world. And personally, I’m not willing to call…..wonder if I did get them….and wait for days to see the log and if not in….wait more days for them to maybe work that band/mode again….and….me also be able to hear em. So …the bird in the hand….when I hear em….I’m workin’ em. If I’m not 100% sure I got em’ with all that massive DQRM….well, I’ll just work them again. I feel sad that deprives someone else of a possible contact….but given the level of DQRM….it is….what it is……

See ya in the plieups. I’m slowly but surely working them on the different bands….but not sure I’m gonna’ catch you Lumpy LOL………….
