CQ DX!
I read news 3Y0K Bouvet may (or may not) be on the air so I figured what the heck, I’ll point my antenna over Asia this morning and call CQ DX on 20M, 14.195. Maybe draw Bouvet out on the Long Path if they’re indeed playing radio? (don’t laugh, crazier things have happened)
I didn’t draw 3Y0K out, but 9N1CA in Nepal on his 2 element Diamond Quad (95 watts) answered my CQ DX call!
Then when I finished up with Arun in Nepal, XV9R Emmanuel in Vietnam called in on his wire antenna (100 watts)!
After 53 years I still love the “human communications” facet of this hobby and I still love the dividends calling CQ DX can bring. The “non-human” lazy, computer scripted text messaging stuff? I’ll pass on that.
See you in the “human mode” pileups!

They put a notice on Facebook this morning that they had a station set up and running FT8 on 12 meters and were working on setting up the rest of the stations. Everyone kept saying it was a pirate on the cluster but 12 meters was actually them. But without the live stream logbook we are getting used to it’s gonna suck and cause a lot of dupes.
I don’t do the FT8 but my friend said it was a zoo. LOL
See ya in the pile-ups. Good luck 73 Dave KM4BS
Love it Wayne, nothing beats real QSOs. Great contacts. Hope we will get Bouvet in the log soon. I know OY1R Regin, one of the team members, is a good CW and SSB op. I met him personally years ago when he brought me his QSL card at my home here in the pouring rain on a bicycle biking from the harbour. Hope to work him this time from Bouvet… 73, Bas
