Bouvet 3Y0K DQRM BAND PLAN. I love it! Ken (LA7GIA) and his Team have announced a plan to mitigate Deliberate QRM when necessary.
On their Website 3Y0K Band Plan they have a block of frequencies where they will listen for YOUR call AND ANSWER on YOUR transmit frequency “simplex”. This way the deliberate QRMers haven’t a clue where or who to QRM.
Here’s a snapshot of their latest Band Plan (click to open in a new tab/window):
It’s a brilliant plan. You call them and listen on YOUR frequency in the block, and they’ll go up and down the block and answer on your frequency!
I hope they do this often, even a majority of the time! This disarms knuckleheads that transmit on their frequency (either intentionally or not). It also disarms the Frequency Police. By the time they answer and log you they’re on to the next caller. No time or space for deliberate QRMers.
They’re expected to arrive Bouvet between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning. Hopefully they get some decent weather to land their equipment and get on the air.
See you in the Bouvet pileups!

The voyage to Bouvet:
Day 3 at sea:
Until yesterday, the cabin was still very hot during the day. There is no air conditioning on the ship, so we’ve been surviving with fans. Today, the sky turned overcast and the temperature suddenly dropped, and we finally began to have a feeling that we are on a… https://t.co/ncDq2Zmmg1 pic.twitter.com/1VceQfiPIS

I forgot important thing: DXped never should use CQ not to get picked up by skimmer.
DQRMer love skimmers….
just “3Y… UP” – thats it
I dont know if I remember it correct. A good friend DL3TD (now SK) told me that an early 3Y DXpedition did it that way in Phone. They ordered the DX callers to take their own frequency and call the 3Ys. The 20m band was full of people calling 3Y.
DL3TD told me he worked 5 (five) 3Ys – finally one of them was good but 4 were pirates, his friend DL5YY (also SK) only worked 3 3Ys – all pirats.
I dont know if this is the way of doing it right.
Better I think DXped always should work split but should move between different calling frequencies regularly to confuse the DQRMer. DQRMer hate to know that they
disturb a frequency where they know is not used any more.
Steady to look where the DXpedition works is hard for a DQRMer, because when he
is txing he cannot listen. As more as he disturbes as less he can follow the traffic 🙂
Dont you mind this is the better way?
Seems like an open invitation to pirates.
“Will the real 3YØK please stand up?”
Yea, like you said…..possibly Pirates moving in the block and giving out bogus calls. And another issue I could see, is think of how congested it will be on SSB if they do this. I’m wondering with 100s or literally many hundreds giving their callsign….spread out in the block…you’re still going to have people calling on top of each other. So again, I just wonder if we’ll be able to hear them in that case….at least on SSB?
I like my odds much better on CW. I keep hoping the DQRM idiots will just “stay home”, but sadly….we all know they just can’t help themselves…..
I guess if they go to the block of freqs, I’ll just pick a spot….and call over and over and over??? I hope it doesn’t come to that………..
Thanks Wayne for all your help with this.

That’s very interesting. If it works, it’ll change the nature of how DXpeditions operate from this point on. Too bad it’s necessary…
John, Pirates will be a problem. I can see these sick Pirate bastards going up and down the frequency block giving calls and 599’s, especially on CW. IF they can run a Live Stream it will surely help because you can look in real time if you worked 3Y0K, but if you have to wait a month or so for a log upload just to find out you worked a Slim (or a Slim worked you), can you imagine?

Confirmed by Charles M0OXO (their QSL Manager) – NO Livestream.
That ship is moving really fast!
