Bouvet 3Y0K. A friendly reminder for the upcoming Bouvet DXpedition in about a month from now. For North America the “Longpath” on the higher bands is probably the way to go, again. I don’t believe it’s going to be any different than the 3Y0J DXpedition a couple years ago.
Here’s a North America heading map AE5X developed a few years ago pin-pointing 3Y0K’s operating position on Cape Fie. Take extra note of the elevations and follow the contours of the HUGE mountain ranges Shortpath to North America (click to enlarge in a new tab/window):
John nailed it with his post a couple years ago and I suspect nothing will have changed for this attempt in 2026 either.
So I’ll ask again – have you improved your working conditions in an attempt to snag 3Y0K? Well have ya’?

I donated a few days ago to the cause. I sure hope they can get on the Island this time….AND…I can work em’. I’ve been out of pocket BOTH of the last two times a DXPedition actually got on the Island. I’ve NEVER worked em’. With 329 in the books ….I need them!
See ya’ in the pileups…………

Tim,
The good thing about AE5X’s map is shows the Shortpath headings to different areas of North America FROM Bouvet which are the EXACT SAME for our Longpath headings! To get around those mountains blocking North America Shortpath, use those Longpath headings. That’s how I was able to work them a couple years ago on 17 Meters – I pointed over Asia! All of 19 stations total in Colorado worked 3Y0J on 17 Meters. ALL in the morning hours Longpath.

I am ready. I never heard the last Bouvet but hopefully they can run power this time and I can work them.
