Sunrise on Bouvet was 0612 their local time this morning (0512Z). It took some work getting through the idiot tuners and frequency police but I bagged them 4 minutes after their sunrise. They were just a whisper here in the hours before their sunrise.
I started another recording 30 minutes after their sunrise (0540Z) and 3Y0K is much, MUCH stronger. IF I knew they would get this loud I would’ve waited to call.
3Y0K 0540Z (30 minutes after their sunrise)
Right now it’s 50 minutes after their sunrise and 3Y0K is starting to drop here in Denver, Colorado. They’re still workable, but their signal is steadily dropping. Peak signal was around 35-40 minutes after their sunrise. I just heard Larry, K0RS maybe 60-70 air miles Southwest of me work them at 0559Z.
People upset they aren’t running an Internet Livestream should take note about recording their Q’s. Sometimes after hours of calling and calling – the Q happens so fast you thought you were dreaming. You can always go back and listen to the MP3 recording and get that warm fuzzy feeling you’re in the log (or not). A recording isn’t as good as seeing your call on the board, but it’ll do. I think back to the days before the Internet and ponder the question, “how did we survive without Livestream?” lol.
Anyway, maybe somebody somewhere may find those bits of information useful in their hunt for 3Y0K.
Good luck, see you in more of the “human mode” pileups!

Yes, my log shows 0600…close enuf. I turned the radio off ~0100z cuz of the DQRM. I needed 40m, but not an ATNO, so no reason to put up with it. I went back around 0545 and not only were they much louder but vy little DQRM. WTG Lumpy!
